Catalyst Miami (+ Miami Climate Alliance)

For 30 years, Miami residents and community leaders have worked together to make Miami more just and more livable. Founded in 1996 by Daniella Levine Cava, Catalyst Miami has been working alongside them—connecting people to resources, strengthening local leadership, and helping catalyze collective action.

Our work is grounded in the belief that people closest to the challenges hold the knowledge, leadership, and power to create real change. Our mission is to build power with frontline communities throughout Miami-Dade County to collectively advance justice and achieve shared prosperity. 

For us, “frontline communities” means the people and neighborhoods most impacted by economic inequality and the climate crisis. Our free services are specifically designed to serve Black and Hispanic low-to moderate-income communities facing these challenges.

Today, we help people meet immediate needs while building the power to change the systems that affect their lives.

Each year, thousands of Miami-Dade residents take part in Catalyst Miami’s programs, services, leadership development and community initiatives. Our free offerings include financial coaching, small business support, climate resilience programs, and other resources that enable individuals, families, and small businesses to build stability and opportunity. 

At the same time, we work with residents and partners to strengthen our neighborhoods, expand local ownership, develop grassroots leaders, and shape public policy. Each of these efforts is a step toward a more just, equitable, and joyful Miami—a Miami where families aren’t just surviving, but thriving with dignity and self-determination.
