I am very excited about the Youth events we have been hosting over the last ten months. The Alliance has offered Care Coordination and Mental Health services for over a decade and that work has been fruitful and supportive to the youth we serve. Youth events feel like the cherry on top of a sundae! When I think about protective factors for LGBTQ Youth, Social Support and Community can be often overlooked. It’s been awesome to witness the joy and connection youth experience when attending these events. I know how important it is to feel included, seen, and validated by others with the same identities as you. Youth enter the space and know they are accessing a place where they can be themselves authentically without judgement and that is such magical work!

As we continue to host youth events my hope is that youth all over this massive county get the opportunity to engage. Whether that looks like providing transportation support or being able to host events in different parts of the county. I just know that we are creating a space like no other for LGBTQ youth and I want them all to have access despite their limitations to transportation or location.
