What We Do:

We provide free, affirming mental health care, family support, advocacy training, and youth leadership programs to help LGBTQ youth and their families thrive.

Our Mission:

The Alliance for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning Youth provides free mental health and care coordination services, leadership development, and policy advocacy that centers the lives and experiences of LGBTQ youth in South Florida.

We serve, nurture, and empower LGBTQ youth, their families, and their communities while advocating for the equal rights and equitable treatment of young people in affirmation of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

Our Vision:

We endeavor to unleash the innate, internal power of LGBTQ youth to be leaders in their own lives and in their communities while living an authentic, full, and liberated existence. The Alliance for LGBTQ Youth's core objectives are to support LGBTQ young people in developing their self-agency; to inform and shift systems that impact the lives of LGBTQ youth to ensure affirming environments that are responsive to the experiences and needs of LGBTQ youth; and to cultivate LGBTQ youth leadership.

Clinical and Mental Health Services: 

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Free confidential, one-on-one, affirming therapy tailored to the individual needs of LGBTQ youth.

GROUP COUNSELING
Supportive community-based, therapeutic groups for LGBTQ youth throughout Miami-Dade County. This is a free confidential and safe space for youth to discuss experiences, feelings, and ideas with their peers in affirming environments. Groups are also available to families of LGBTQ youth in need of peer support.

FAMILY COUSELING
The Alliance offers free support to families of LGBTQ youth through psychoeducation and therapeutic interventions. The Alliance utilizes Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT) to improve interpersonal problem-solving, emotion regulation, and caregiver-child attachment. We acknowledge youth increase their ability to thrive past survival when they come from spaces of affirmation and care.

CARE COORDINATION

Care Coordination offers free one-on-one support to help LGBTQ youth navigate challenges and assist families in understanding and affirming their child’s identity. Through holistic guidance, education, referrals, and advocacy, we build on existing strengths to foster resilience and well-being.

Advocacy:

We provide LGBTQ youth-centered trainings and education tailored to your specific needs! Community training topics include: Gender and Sexuality 101, Cultivating Gender Conscious Classrooms, Enhancing GSA Support, and brief trainings on how school personnel and community organizations can refer LGBTQ youth and families to our services. These are just a few examples. 

Youth Programs: 

CHANGEMAKERS LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

The ChangeMakers Leadership Institute engages youth to become leaders, critical thinkers, and activists in a progressive, youth-led social justice movement. Through exploring LGBTQ history, systems of oppression, and organizing strategies, participants deepen their political awareness and create advocacy projects that address the needs of their own communities.

BRAVE SPACES

Brave Space programming provides LGBTQ youth with affirming, inclusive environments to connect, express themselves, and build confidence through community, education, and support.
