Working at The Alliance surrounded by individuals who strive every day to create space for empowerment, not only for the young people that we work with but also for each other, is a journey that implements joy and fearlessness in order to make sure that our young people have the space to exist in ways that are true to who they want to be. Navigating social systems can be a scary thing, and some times all you need is someone who is willing to sit there with you, listen, and go through these motions with you. Having the privilege of being that person is something that nurtures and guides my professional practice-- one that is rooted in empathy and advocacy-- and through those tenets being able to bridge my knowledge with that of the young people that choose to let us walk alongside them.
