“The Story Behind the Mission”

Splashy Hendrix Book Club was born from love, loss, and the unshakable belief that literacy has the power to change lives. Our story begins with Ty—affectionately known as Splashy Hendrix—a bright, creative young man whose smile could light up any room. He was a son, a friend, and a dreamer who found joy in reading, writing, and expressing himself through words.

From the time he was little, Splashy loved books. He believed that reading opened the doors to new worlds—worlds of creativity, confidence, and endless possibility. That passion followed him into adulthood, where he found his voice in the culinary arts and began to explore writing music for others. His extensive vocabulary and imagination became the secret ingredients that made his work stand out.

But just as his star began to rise, tragedy struck. Splashy’s life was cut short far too soon. His passing left a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew him—his family, his friends, his coworkers, and the community that adored him.

Yet from that pain, a purpose was born.

We created Splashy Hendrix Book Club Corporation to honor his legacy by giving young people—especially those in underserved communities—the same gift that shaped his life: the power of literacy. Through reading, writing, and storytelling, we help children discover their voice, unlock their potential, and see a future filled with hope and opportunity.
