Crystal Academy: Celebrating 16 Years of Service to the Special Needs Community
Founded by parents with a deep understanding of the special needs community, Crystal Academy (CA) is a specialized educational and therapeutic center dedicated to serving children and adolescents with Autism and related disorders. Our mission is to provide academic education and therapeutic intervention through a holistic, individualized approach for each child.
At CA, we look beyond day-to-day needs. Our older students engage in vocational skill-building, opening doors to potential job opportunities. Our comprehensive curriculum includes community-based outings, life skills, behavior intervention, assistive technology, language arts, science, math, group music, art, sensory integration, speech therapy, and physical education. Collaborating with organizations like UM-NSU CARD, we actively participate in research and internship programs to continually refine best practices in behavior interventions, assessments, and treatments. Crystal Academy also offers individual therapies, including ABA, Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy, and music, during and after school hours.
Our students contributed their voices to design the first-ever autism flag raised in Coral Gables, which has been flying proudly for the past two years. They also influenced the colors and messaging on the Coral Gables Police Department’s Autism Patrol Car, and Badge symbolizing greater community awareness and acceptance.
In April, during Autism Acceptance Month, CA proudly hosts the Autism Police and Fire Caravan, uniting over 50 patrol cars and hundreds of police motor patrols supporting the autism community. Our achievements have been recognized with multiple proclamations from the City of Coral Gables and the City of Miami.
This year, contributions on Give Miami Day will continue toward scholarships, creative arts (music and theatre), and pre-vocational training, helping families access the support their children need.
With your help, we continue to foster a community of understanding, support, and opportunity for all children and families we serve.
