I first got involved with the League of Women Voters of Miami-Dade County when a google search in response to the question “who represents me?” led me to the LWV’s signature Vote411 website which allows voters to look up their national state, local voting districts, representatives, check their voter registration & much more.
I signed up to attend my first LWV meeting shortly thereafter & the rest is history.
I’m incredibly proud & grateful that I’m able to be a part of an organization that is doing the critical work of empowering voters and defending democracy.
When I signed up for the LWV, I knew absolutely nothing about politics, just that I didn’t like how things were going policy-wise in the U.S., in Florida, in Miami, and I wanted to figure out how to start speaking up, speaking out & making a difference.
Being involved with the League has given me the opportunity to learn more deeply about serious issues from voting rights, to healthcare, to the environment, to gun violence, immigration, to local governance and more.
In the past several years since joining the LWV, I’ve had the opportunity to register voters, educate communities about their voting rights and what will be on their ballots, I’ve met with elected officials to advocate for League policies and priorities, rallied for causes that I care about, and built an amazing and supportive community of people passionate about & committee to seeing the U.S. live up to the ideals it was founded on.
I hope you’ll consider joining me today in supporting this organization that has been such a significant part of my personal and professional development and that has such a huge impact on educating voters and defending democracy in Miami, in Florida, and nation-wide.
In League,
Morgan 💪🏻🗳️💜
