Summer heat hits cities harder, where asphalt and concrete trap warmth, creating urban heat islands that make cities several degrees hotter than the surrounding places. This rising heat poses serious health risks, especially for vulnerable populations like unhoused individuals, elders, outdoor workers, and children.
Under-resourced communities are disproportionately impacted by urban heat and climate change, often lacking access to clean hydration, green spaces, shade, and environmental resources.
Coastlove’s Hydration Station Pop-Up Program is a direct response to the intersecting crises of extreme heat, water insecurity, and plastic pollution. It combines emergency relief with education and sustainable solutions - all designed to meet communities where they are.
