Hi everyone! I truly feel it's my life purpose to act with compassion and courage towards improving my community so that everyone can live healthy and thrive.

As the Director of Healthy Streets and Public Spaces at Urban Health Partnerships, I help shine a light on the connections between health and the built environment.

Our communities face a multitude of public space challenges that result in poorer health outcomes and diminished sense of belonging for many, from living in one of the most dangerous metro areas for pedestrians and bicyclists to dealing with extreme heat to poor access to transit or walkable neighborhoods. Everyone deserves to live by public spaces that allow them to lead healthy lives where they can not just survive, but thrive.

Together with the Community Liaisons who have been hired as experts of their communities to guide our outreach and co-design sustainable solutions, our work addresses these and many other challenges by:

• Enhancing transit amd mobility systems for increased access to healthy foods, healthcare, jobs, and community resources
  • 
• Reducing high rates of crashes involving pedestrians and bicyclists, particularly in communities with low vehicle ownership and high transit ridership
  • 
    
• Improving physical and mental health outcomes through improved parks facilities and programming and increased access to green spaces
  • 
• Facilitating collaborations with partners to support emotional well-being by protecting and creating opportunities for social connection in public spaces
  • 
• Using creative solutions to reduce extreme heat and improve tree shade coverage in South Florida
  •
