Every Child Deserves to Read. Period.
Learning to read changes what is possible for a child. But too many children in Miami-Dade begin school without the early literacy skills, books, and support they need to become confident readers.
At Uplift Literacy, we believe a child's ability to become a strong reader should never depend on their circumstances. That's why we bring early literacy support directly to children and families—at school, at home, and throughout the community.
About Us
This past year, Uplift Literacy:
Reached 1,660 children through meaningful literacy programs and experiences.
Empowered 1,375 parents and caregivers with tools and strategies to nurture their children's reading development at home.
Distributed 3,659 brand-new books into the hands of children and families across our community.
Through ReadingPals, 126 dedicated volunteers supported 250 students across 20 sites, showing up week after week to help children develop essential reading skills and discover the confidence that comes with learning to read.
Breaking Barriers by Raising Readers
At school, ReadingPals volunteers provide consistent, evidence-based literacy support, helping PreK–3rd grade students strengthen foundational reading skills and build confidence in their abilities..
At home, we equip parents and caregivers with the knowledge, books, and practical strategies to become their children's first and most important reading champions.
In the community, programs like Books Around Town and Pages in the Park bring books, storytelling, and joyful literacy experiences into the places where children live, play, and grow.
And the impact goes beyond the numbers. We're seeing children make remarkable gains in foundational reading skills, grow more confident in their abilities, and develop a love of learning. We're also seeing families become more empowered: 100% of surveyed parents and caregivers reported learning new strategies to support their children's literacy development.
Take Action
Imagine the pride a child feels when they read a sentence on their own for the first time or the confidence of a parent who has learned new ways to support their child's reading journey.
These are the moments your generosity makes possible.
This Give Miami Day, your gift will help us reach more children, support more families, and give more young readers the opportunity to discover what they're capable of.
Every child deserves the chance to become a strong, confident reader. Help us make that possible.
