Be A Part of FGO History!

The history of Florida Grand Opera is the history of Miami. When FGO was founded in 1941, Miami was a much different place than it is today. In the 83 years since, Miami and FGO have grown side by side. Throughout the years, FGO has created countless inspiring opera productions for the Miami public and has brought some of the biggest names in opera history, including Luciano Pavarotti, Joan Sutherland, Franco Corelli, Sherrill Milnes, Mirella Freni, and more, to the South Florida shores. It is FGO that is responsible for Pavarotti's American debut, in a production of Lucia di Lammermoor in 1965.

Recently, FGO discovered a storage unit filled with one-of-a-kind relics from our storied history in Miami. From handwritten letters from Rossini and Verdi, to unique portraits of Enrico Caruso, we were blown away by the variety and quality of the archives. Now we want to share this history with the city that helped make it all happen.

Your $25 gift will help provide the resources required to catalog, display, and bring this history alive with cutting-edge museum technology. Give Miami Day funds will contribute to our goal of raising $80,000 to bring a full-time museum curator to our team to ensure that these indelible pieces of FGO and Miami's shared history are made accessible to the public.
