For 27 years, The Melissa Institute for Violence Prevention and Treatment has been a trusted source of scientific information on violence prevention, safe communities and mental health in South Florida and beyond. Today, more than 100,000 people and agencies from 138 countries have benefited from the Institute’s educational resources and trainings and millions more have consulted our websites. Guided by an internationally renowned group of scientific board members, we equip school, juvenile justice, and mental health personnel, as well as parents and policy makers with the tools to reduce intimate partner violence, prevent bullying, diffuse anger, resolve conflict, and promote healing and healthy relationships. We offer innovative courses on trauma informed care practices and how to bolster resilience. Moreover, we provide dissertation research scholarships for new generations of violence prevention researchers.
