"The Melissa Institute is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to violence prevention through research-based solutions that keep our communities safe. It was established in memory of Melissa Aptman in 1996, the year after her murder."

For 30 years, The Melissa Institute has worked to prevent violence and promote mental well-being in homes, schools, and communities. We fulfill our mission by providing free education through conferences, programs, and consultations. The Institute serves as a leading resource of research-based violence prevention and mental health strategies in South Florida and the world. We equip parents, schools, communities and mental health professionals with the tools to reduce intimate partner violence, prevent bullying, defuse anger, and resolve conflict, while also fostering healthy relationships. 

Our internationally renowned Scientific Board provides the latest state-of-the-art research to ensure that we remain at the forefront of violence prevention. Their expertise has earned The Melissa Institute a well-deserved reputation for excellence. We are proud that all of our resources are available free of charge.
