Green Fund - MDCPS

The Green Fund @ FNEI was created to help support Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) build a culture of sustainability and resilience through the Green Schools Recognition Program (GSRP). The GSRP awards schools that go above and beyond in their commitment to shaping a sustainable community on campus and encourages schools to act for a healthier school and environment. Inspired by a mission to conserve resources and take care of the natural environment that surrounds us, the Green Fund will help schools achieve this mission by working with community sponsors to gather the necessary resources to pursue sustainability initiatives in schools.

Donations can be used to help create a healthier more sustainable future for our students. With your help, we could do this by engaging in the following activities: 

• Enhancing waste reduction education in our schools by acquiring necessary campaign materials (supports UNSDG 4,11,12,13,14,15)

• Cutting down on food waste by acquiring program supplies and helping transport unwanted food to those in need (supports UNSDG 2,3,4,11,12,13,14,15)

• Optimize existing facilities with water conservation technology (supports UNSDG 6,12,14,15)

• Increase water education awareness by providing curriculum resources (supports UNSDG 4,6,12,14,15)

• Modify procurement operations that will prioritize reducing waste and supporting the local economy (supports UNSDG 3,12,17)

• Help fund fieldtrips which will increase outdoor education and focus on improving environmental education in the classroom (supports UNSDG 4,14, 5,13,17)

• Reward schools who are thriving in the six (6) Green School categories: School Grounds Enhancement, School Sustainability, Health and Well-being, Curriculum Integration, Community Involvement, School-wide Culture (supports UNSDG 4,17)

• Optimize existing facilities with energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy (supports UNSDG 3,7,8,9,11,12,13,17)

• Improve electric vehicle charging access across the district by providing an electric vehicle charger for each school (supports UNSDG 3,6,12,13,17
