Be the Keynote in a Child’s Symphony of Success

Founded in 1997 by Maestra Sebrina María Alfonso in Key West, South Florida Symphony Orchestra (SFSO) is the region’s largest professional orchestra. SFSO enriches Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties with cultural music experiences, promoting vibrant communities through innovative programming and transformative education.

The Symphony in the Schools music education program  has impacted over 100,000 students in under-resourced communities. However, a critical need for music education exists in Miami-Dade County Schools.

Together, we can orchestrate dreams and strike a high note with our future virtuosos, composers, music teachers, and most importantly, give the joy and personal growth that music brings to their lives.

Our programs celebrate:

Diversity & Inclusivity: We proudly create a musical space where children can discover their potential, ignite their imaginations, and let their creativity soar, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, or socioeconomic status.

Innovation: Through innovative music education approaches, we're nurturing the next generation of musicians and creative thinkers.

Health & Wellness: Music enriches the soul, supports emotional well-being, and increases self-confidence, making it an essential part of a holistic education.

Raising the Curtain: Our programs create safe spaces for children to learn and grow, removing barriers while supporting their artistic and personal journeys.

Connectivity & Fun: Music unites people, and we infuse fun and joy into every note played and every lesson learned.

Mission:

Symphony in the Schools believes in building a brighter future for our community's youth through the magic of music. We strive to provide more free concerts to public school children and introduce ensemble instruction and after-school strings programs to thousands of Miami-Dade children, one precious note at a time.
