As Artistic Director of City Theatre in Miami, it is that time of year again when I put aside my modest southern roots, place my hat in my hand, and shamelessly ask you to donate to  my artistic home, City Theatre. 

In case you are not on our mailing list for updates, City Theatre has gone through a successful leadership transition this past year with the amazing help and loving guidance of Founder Susan J Westfall,  Board Chairman Alan Fein and our fearless board. This past season Executive Director Gladys Ramirez and I have expanded our reach and grown our Community programming into more Miami neighborhoods with FREE short play readings with music followed by community conversations. We have partnered with new organizations in Miami-Dade County and made new relationships with community leaders. And this past Summer, we produced 8 brand new, world premiere short plays for Summer Shorts from our HOMEGROWN Playwright Development program! 

This year we are continuing this growth trend in Community programs, partnerships, and the new cohort of Homegrown playwrights are off and running already. Stay tuned for more information to come about that! And in December we are producing the Miami premiere of Carmen Rivera's timeless play, LA GRINGA.

It is an exhilarating time for us, but as with any change and growth there can be a bit of uncertainty. And you know me and uncertainty, we are NOT best friends. So, I am asking you to help alleviate that uncertainty by supporting City Theatre, a not-for-profit organization, by giving as much as you did in the past or more, if you are able to, this Give Miami Day, tomorrow, November 16th. Or if you have never donated, it would certainly be appreciated if you started this year!  I have a personal fundraising goal of $7500 out of the $45,000 total Give Miami Day goal for City Theatre. Early Giving started Monday, so you don't have to wait till tomorrow - you can do it right now!
