Will you join me in Making Art Happen at Locust Projects? Full disclosure LOL - I work there but I work there because I am passionate about what we do and honored to have the opportunity to support artists in making big ideas come to life as Executive Director.

Some background for those who may not know ... As a curator for 30 + years I have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of artists and one of the most exciting aspects of that work has been witnessing and supporting the realization of new work. I really got the bug when I was a curator from 1994 to 2006 at CFA/Miami Art Museum, now PAMM, commissioning new work for the New Work series and working with renowned installation artists like Ann Hamilton. I left my beloved MAM and Miami and took a risk to run one of the premiere spaces in the country supporting artists making new work in new media and materials - the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, some of you know that story ... and the professionally amazing 12 years that followed in Philly, NC and DC, but when the opportunity presented itself to come back to Miami and lead Locust - I jumped! I had been involved with Locust when it was founded by three artists and knew how vital they are in Miami's arts ecosystem. It has been a dream supporting their mission for the last 6 years and overseeing our move to an incredible new home doubling our size in early 2023 kicking off our 25th Anniversary year!

Locust is one of the leading alternative art spaces in the country commissioning large scale new work, offering artists the opportunity to both produce and publicly present in a nationally-recognized arts incubator new work that they make happen beyond their studio practice, in a supportive space where an artist can boldly experiment, take risks, and create ambitious new work that pushes their practice and results in new directions and career-building opportunities.

Simply said, we MAKE ART HAPPEN for local, national and international artists at all career stages through not only these big exhibition opportunities, but also through the career-supporting resources like WaveMaker incubator grants and Legal ArtLink pro bono legal services and our summer LAB for the Next Generation of Artists. It's a special place, I hope you see that too and join me in supporting Locust Projects on GMD!

Thank you - gifts of all sizes from anywhere in the world all make an impact!
