Be kind and make a donation here as no amount is too small to help us save more livesSomy is originally from Karachi, Pakistan, born to an Indian father and an Iraqi mother,  Somy is a survivor of sexual abuse, domestic violence and rape in her teenage years. She moved to the United States at the age of 9 with her younger brother and mother to establish a healthy, productive family life free of abuse.

At age 16, Somy moved to India to pursue a teenage crush and ended up working in fourteen Hindi films as a leading actor opposite some of the biggest Bollywood stars. Thereafter, she returned to the United States in 2000 with her earnings, and an appetite for additional education. Somy graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL. While at the University of Miami working on her graduate degree, Somy developed an interest in documentary films. She graduated with a degrees in psychology, broadcast journalism, filmmaking, direction, screenwriting, and editing. Her early projects included short films on abortion, domestic violence, and teenage suicide. Somy’s first film, “I Can Survive”, covered the plight of Pakistani rape victim, Mukhtaran Mai. In 2006, the film aired at then Senator Hillary Clinton's benefit honoring Ms. Mukhtaran Mai.

In 2006, Somy established No More Tears, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization with the mission of rescuing victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. No More Tears (NMT) works with all victims of relationship violence; however, the majority are domestic violence and human trafficking cases brought to the United States from all over the world.

NMT provides direct, immediate support. In 2019 alone, the organization saved the lives of more than 100 victims of physical and sexual violence. Since its inception in 2007, NMT has provided the resources for housing, legal counsel, therapy and/or medical support to over 30,000 women, children and men. It is this type of individualized, compassionate service that sets us apart from other support agencies. Another unique component of NMT is that it is a 100% volunteer-run organization. Nor Somy, the President, or any of her NMT associates take a salary. The organization fundraises for its operations by hosting events and through the solicitation of individual and corporate donations and the submission of grant applications.

In 2011, Somy was honored with the American Heritage Award from the American Immigration Council for her work with No More Tears, The Daily Point of Light Award by President George H. W. Bush in 2015, and The National Domestic Violence Month "A Proclamation" by President Barack Obama. In 2011, Somy received The American Heritage Award. In 2013, Somy was chosen as the L'Oréal Woman of Worth for her work with No More Tears. In 2020, Somy and nine other Survivors appeared in unscripted reality show on Discovery+ and Discovery ID. The show followed Somy and her volunteers saving lives and today in 2025, No More Tears has saved 50,438 victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and members of our LGBTQ+AI Families. It is important to mention that in 18 years, Somy has donated her life's savings of 1.2 million dollars, sold all her jewelry to keep No More Tears afloat. To this day, Somy, does not take a salary and never built a model where every dollar that comes to No More Tears as a donation will solely be used to help victims transform into Survivors. No More Tears works locally, nationally, and internationally. The organization was recently contacted by Mumbai Police to rescue three young men who belonged to the LGBTQ family and were going to be murdered by their own family for their sexual preference. Within, 24 hours, No More Tears emailed plane tickets and all three of those young men are in our shelter. They are receiving therapy, healthcare, political asylum, via our pro bono immigration attorney, and every service under the sun to help them thrive and veer towards a brighter future.
