Become a Partner for Change: Support Our Work on Give Miami Day!
Hello everyone! My name is Daymee "Didi" Sanchez, and I am proud to call Little Havana, Miami my home. Born and raised here, I’ve spent my entire life in this community, witnessing both its vibrancy and the challenges it faces. Growing up in Little Havana shaped who I am today and inspired my deep passion for giving back. Having experienced the critical need for equitable resources and opportunities firsthand, I’ve dedicated my career to creating meaningful change in Miami.
I earned my degree from Florida State University as a proud first-generation college graduate, where I cultivated my skills and grew my passion for community service. My journey has been shaped by the incredible impact of non-profits, and I am honored to give back to my community as the Administrative and Development Assistant + Lead Community Liaison with Urban Health Partnerships (UHP).
What I Do at UHP
At Urban Health Partnerships (UHP), we are committed to co-designing sustainable change and promoting equity and well-being across all stages of life. I serve as Administrative + Development Assistant & Lead Community Liaison, where I focus on advancing LGBTQ+ health equity, strengthening community engagement, and providing key administrative and development support to the organization.
In this role, I:
- Lead community engagement and outreach through the InCommUNITY NIH projects, leveraging youth networks and local partnerships to expand participation in health initiatives.
- Represent UHP at city, county, and community meetings to ensure programs reflect community priorities.
- Plan and execute outreach events, presentations, and stakeholder engagements.
- Provide administrative and development support, including assisting the Board of Directors with meeting preparation and follow-up, coordinating organizational planning and event logistics, and maintaining data tracking systems to measure program reach and impact.
I have also contributed to the SMART Grant, supporting efforts to improve mobility and transit safety in Downtown and Brickell through smart loading zone initiatives.
Through these initiatives, I strive to ensure that all individuals, regardless of identity or background, have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
Why Your Support Matters
As someone raised by my grandmothers, I feel a personal connection to our mission. While my focus is on LGBTQIA+ healthcare equity and mobility, our work spans across generations, empowering aging populations and underserved communities alike. I am passionate about creating a more inclusive and sustainable future for all Miami residents.
Your support will directly impact UHP’s work by:
- Implementing community-driven projects that promote health, safety, and well-being.
- Leading policy and system changes that create healthier, more equitable communities.
- Empowering residents to advocate for their neighborhoods and take charge of local improvements.
