We are proud to introduce the Recovery Scholarship Program, an initiative aimed at providing financial support to individuals from our communities who are beginning their 12-step recovery journey. This scholarship is designed to remove the financial barriers that often prevent individuals from accessing the comprehensive treatment and support they need to overcome addiction and rebuild their lives.
Your donation will directly support our mission, enabling us to expand our canine-assisted therapy program and provide scholarships for clients who cannot afford to pay for our services. Your support will ensure that we never have to turn away someone who is ready to reclaim their life due to a lack of funds.
Why Your Support MattersYour generous grant would allow us to:
- Expand outreach to individuals who are homeless and struggling with addiction.
- Provide scholarships to clients who lack the financial means to enter our program.
Blue Waters Recovery Foundation (BWRF) operates seven sober living homes across Miami-Dade and Broward counties, providing structured, supportive environments for individuals in recovery. Our approach to addiction recovery is unique: we use canine assisted therapy and pair sober living residents with rescue dogs from Blue Waters Dog Rescue (BWDR). This strategy has been transformative, with program participants sharing that it has not only changed their lives but, in some cases, saved them. These therapeutic bonds foster healing and purpose for both clients and animals.
Our success rate is nearly double the national average, with 28% of our clients maintaining sobriety for a year or more. Yet, many individuals struggling with addiction face significant barriers, often lacking the resources they need to succeed when they finally seek help. Last year, over 107,000 people in the U.S. lost their lives to overdoses, highlighting the urgent need for immediate support.
While client fees help sustain our program, they fall short of covering all expenses, especially for those unable to pay. We are currently facing a funding shortfall that threatens our ability to serve those most in need. Despite having the infrastructure and accommodations to assist more people, we lack the financial resources to support them.
