Blue Waters Recovery Foundation (BWRF) operates seven sober living homes across Miami-Dade and Broward counties, providing structured, supportive environments for individuals in recovery. Our approach to addiction recovery is unique: we use CANINE ASSISTED THERAPY and pair sober living residents with rescue dogs from Blue Waters Dog Rescue (BWDR). This strategy has been transformative, with program participants sharing that it has not only changed their lives but, in some cases, saved them. For many of those struggling with substance abuse in South Florida, housing is a great concern and expense. Without a program such as ours there is little hope for their futures and aftercare. The overwhelming majority of our clients who come into our program are currently sober, but otherwise homeless, uninsured, unemployed, and without family support or funds.
BWRF provides a sober living environment at a crucial stage in the rehabilitation process. We use a number of recovery support strategies and proudly have what is the most rigorous curriculum of any similar program in South Florida. Our structures are in place to prepare our clients to progress and grow in their sobriety so that they can support themselves, live independently, and become productive members of society.
BWRF is a 501(c)3 non-profit and FARR Accredited residential rehabilitation program and shelter, providing housing for drug and alcohol addicts. Our primary purpose is to provide safe and structured housing to addicts and alcoholics seeking recovery, regardless of their economic circumstances.
A unique aspect of our program is that we partner with Blue Waters Dog Rescue (BWDR). BWDR is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping animals in need. Their focus is on rescuing and rehabilitating animals, then finding them forever homes. They believe that the therapeutic value animals can have on someone's life is often overlooked and want to help people who have been affected by addiction or other demanding situations find new hope through the love and companionship of an animal family member. Their rescue dogs are housed in our sober living homes with recovering alcoholics and addicts. These symbiotic relationships offer support, and a chance for them both to learn that real love is unconditional.
