Florida Animal Rescue Alliance (FARA) was founded after the rescue of a single pig an experience that revealed a deep need for stronger collaboration among rescues, sanctuaries, and compassionate individuals across our state. What began as one rescue story has grown into a statewide volunteer-run network dedicated to helping animals of all kinds receive the safety, dignity, and care they deserve.

Our Mission in a nutshell:

FARA builds alliances between sanctuaries, rescues, and protection groups to ensure that every animal has access to care, safety, and a path to a better life. We mobilize volunteers, connect organizations, coordinate rescue efforts, and raise awareness to create a kinder, more compassionate Florida.

What We Do:

FARA’s work spans multiple areas of animal protection, all made possible through a united volunteer network:

• Sanctuary & Rescue Support

We collaborate closely with dozens of sanctuaries and rescues, providing resources, transport coordination, emergency response, and ongoing support for farmed and companion animals.

• Animal Care & Community Assistance

Our volunteers assist with hands-on care, animal relocations, vet coordination, and community education to help animals who have been abandoned, neglected, or left without support.

• Volunteer Mobilization

FARA organizes monthly volunteer days, engages new advocates, and connects people with opportunities to support animals directly through service, transport, fostering, and community outreach.

• Education & Compassion Building

We work to inspire empathy by educating the public, involving youth and families, and empowering new activists to become advocates for a more humane world.

• Advocacy & Awareness

FARA strives to shine a light on the realities animals face and builds alliances that strengthen humane policies, ethical practices, and compassionate choices.
