Most days, you’ll find one of our canvassers under the Miami sun talking with people from our community about the future of our city. This year, Oscar stood up at a county budget hearing for the first time with more than 200 people to oppose cuts to early morning bus service, demanding real alternatives before any service is cut. He argued that people who make this city run and make this place worth moving to are being priced out.
Miami’s young people are facing sky-high rents, a climate crisis, and decisions that too often leave them out. Engage is committed to supporting young people to embody their power and be the change they want to see in the world but we need your support. Democracy doesn’t stop at the ballot box.
Civic engagement is not a spectator sport. We’re out registering voters, knocking on doors, and sparking conversations that move our county and state forward. Our election protection poll monitors keep the ballot box safe and accessible. Our neighborhood tours and community canvasses walk residents through the history of Miami’s communities and connect that history to the issues we fight for in our budget advocacy. We show up year-round because real change starts with us, and we are not waiting for permission to build the Miami and Florida we deserve.
Donations to Engage Florida Civic Fund Inc put young people at the forefront of spaces that don’t always have our best interest in mind, like budget hearings and public meetings. Your support on Give Miami Day powers a bold, fearless, unstoppable movement of young leaders rooted in love, history, and community.
