Parent to Parent of Miami

Parent to Parent of Miami is a community parent resource center for families who have children with disabilities that provides disability specific information, peer support, coaching and advocacy to help families connect, cope and thrive. Our uniqueness is based on the personal perspectives of parenting children and adults with special needs. No other organization serving the full range of disabilities in Miami-Dade County has a team of more experienced coaches, mentors and leaders in disability related best practices.

The advocacy provided at school meetings and educational workshops enables families to effectively help their children meet the developmental, functional, and challenging academic goals that have been established for all children. This ongoing support helps parents unlock their children's potential so that they can lead productive, independent adult lives to the maximum extent possible. Parenting children and adults with disabilities brings many challenges. Most parents of children and adults with disabilities are charged with the responsibilities of the coordination of health services, home, school, and community supports without a built-in system that leads to training and support. This is where Parent to Parent of Miami steps in to provide that individualized assistance so parents are guided through these various, complex systems and can receive the appropriate support and community linkage they and their children need.
