Touching Miami with Love Ministries, Inc

Touching Miami with Love (TML) is a community-driven, non-profit organization serving Overtown and West Homestead neighborhoods since 1995. We are dedicated to closing economic and academic gaps, eliminating generational and wealth disparities, and empowering our communities to overcome stigmas and limitations and thrive in every aspect of life. Our goal is to inspire, educate, and empower the community through educational enrichment programs. We provide year-round holistic programs that serve nearly 1,000 children, youths, and adults.

Education is a pathway to success; every child deserves the opportunity to optimize their potential and actualize their dreams. Therefore, we designed our after-school programs, summer camps, and in-school services to provide practical, hands-on experience that equips our children with the skills they need to succeed in school and life. We offer a safe, nurturing environment where they can grow, express themselves, and flourish.  

In addition to our focus on children, we offer support to parents through continuing education workshops. These workshops cover digital and financial literacy, nutrition and health, parenting skills, and civic engagement. We also engage adult learners in learning to read and write in English and Spanish. Our services for families extend beyond referral services and include support for health, mental health, and legal issues and assistance with food insecurity and other basic social services needs.

The Homestead community faces an epidemic of illiteracy, which results in higher unemployment and low-wage workers who lack the skills, education, and confidence to improve their economic and social mobility. TML launched the Adult Literacy & Empowerment program in the fall to address this issue. This program empowers adults with the skills and education they need to overcome challenges and improve their lives. Participants in the program receive individualized instruction, and we also assist in finding employment and other needed services.
