Stand by Bear: Support His Healing Journey

This Give Miami Day, I’m raising funds for Whispering Manes Therapeutic Riding Center, where horses help children and adults with disabilities grow stronger, braver, and more confident every day.

This year’s campaign supports the Horse Welfare Fund, which ensures every herd member receives the best care — from daily feed and hoof trims to emergency veterinary treatment. These gentle horses are the heart of every life-changing ride.

In September, we had a medical emergency with one of our therapy horses, Bear, and had to rush him to Palm Beach Equine Hospital for Colic surgery. Thankfully, after recovering at the hospital for 5 days, he came back home to Whispering Manes to continue his recuperation. But the road was still long before he would be back to normal. He required round the clock care, medications, specific feed/ supplements, physical therapy, weekly veterinary visits, and a log to monitor his progress. He has also had incision complications that have arisen along the way that have delayed his return to our program. Bear is now coming to the 8th week of his recovery and we feel confident that he is past his toughest times after surgery and we all look forward to seeing Bear riding in our program soon.

Bear is just one horse in our program, we have 14 others could require surgery to save their lives. The total for all of Bear's treatment, to date, is around $20,000. With your help and heartfelt donation, we can insure that if any of our herd members requires this or any life changing procedure, we can save them and insure a good quality of life. 

Our therapy horses are sentient beings and the work they do in our programs is something amazing to witness. Aside from our riders, they are our main priority because without our herd, we wouldn't be able to offer the amazing power of horses to those in need.
