Starting on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2027 and running through the Civic Season, Seeds of Service is a youth-led series of 5 free, hands-on trainings for 200 South Florida youth and adults. Participants learn CPR from certified instructors, practice vital signs basics, and start home gardens at an Eating for Health “food is medicine” day with local growers and entrepreneurs. They also learn seizure first aid and make aromatherapy sensory dough from scratch, a creative skill that can become income, then close the series with a second CPR training. Planned with our youth leadership group, each event builds life-saving skills, healthy habits, and a commitment to keep serving our community. Learning is fun! Learn It, Create It, Develop YOU!
From January through July 2027, Seeds of Service will train a total 200 South Florida youth and adults through 5 events. Our goals are:
- Train 36 people in CPR across 2 certified trainings, with at least 90% completing the hands-on skills check.
- Train 18 people in vital signs basics, with at least 85% correctly taking a blood pressure and pulse by the end of the session.
- Engage 100 people at Eating for Health, each going home with seeds or an herb starter and a local resource guide.
- Train 46 people in seizure first aid, each receiving a Seizure Ready Kit and making their own sensory dough.
- At least 80% of all participants make a written commitment to ongoing community service.
