This Give Miami Day, I am supporting CWS. I have seen firsthand the joy and vital support that CWS has and continues to provide to refugees and families across Miami.
CWS shows up in ways that are essential, yet often unseen:
Helping families navigate health insurance with detailed orientations so they understand the system and know what to do.
Connecting people with vital resources, ESOL classes, and essential care.
Hosting art and music therapies to help vulnerable families heal.
Providing food donations from the in-office Food Pantry.
Offering free or discounted immigration legal services with professionals who prioritize people over profit.
Most importantly, CWS gives people a sense of safety and community, the knowledge that they are not alone when they need support the most.
As a volunteer-turned-employee of two years, I know that every contribution makes a difference. If you have a little extra to give, I ask that you consider donating to CWS, a nonprofit that has been part of South Florida for over 60 years and has played an essential role in helping refugees and local families find stability, dignity, and hope.
