The Problem: Trapped in the Cycle

Thousands of people in Miami-Dade County have their driver's licenses suspended, often not for dangerous driving, but for unpaid fines, fees, or failure to appear in court for a minor traffic violation. These financial and bureaucratic barriers quickly spiral into a crisis:

• Without a license, they can't legally drive to work, jeopardizing their income.
• They risk new arrests and fines (driving while suspended), deepening their debt.
• They lose the ability to transport children, attend medical appointments, and participate fully in the community.

This creates a cycle of poverty and instability that is nearly impossible to break alone.

The Solution: The Steer Ahead Program

The Steer Ahead Program provides the essential help our participants need to get back on the road to success:

• Case Management: We guide clients through the complex judicial and DMV processes.
• Financial Assistance: We negotiate and, in some cases, help pay for the crippling fines, fees, and court costs that prevent reinstatement.
• Court Advocacy: We work directly with the Clerk of Courts and other legal entities to clear the suspension hurdles.

Our goal for Give Miami Day is to raise $20,000 to help reinstate 80 driver's licenses!
