He didn’t land at our door by accident. His mom worked two jobs; his dad wasn’t around. When rent spiked, they bounced between relatives, and school slid from “I’ll catch up” to “why bother showing up.” Then a youthful misstep—with adult-sized consequences—closed doors before he could open them. He was facing serious charges and a maze of court requirements—curfews, check-ins, classes—without steady housing or reliable transportation. Fees stacked up. With all his possessions in a backpack and a cracked phone, he worried that every wrong bus or missed call would cost him another violation. Shame kept him out of interviews; anxiety made waiting rooms feel like a trap.

 

RYIP met him at that fragile edge and filled the gaps that turned detours into direction.

 

In his first weeks with RYIP, he received a hygiene kit for interviews, a bus pass, a seat in our Personal & Professional Development sessions, and a support system that genuinely cares. Three months later, he had a polished résumé, two interviews, a part-time job, and a plan to finish his GED before heading to trade school. He’ll tell you the difference wasn’t luck—it was consistent support at the exact moments that decide a young person’s future.

RYIP (Re-Entry Youth Intervention Program) walks alongside justice-impacted and high-barrier youth (roughly ages 16–24) in Miami-Dade. We stabilize basics and build skills through weekly Personal & Professional Development, one-to-one success coaching, mental-health counseling sessions, tutoring, employment preparation, and career connections. Each year, we help hundreds of young people move from crisis to success—showing up to school, keeping jobs, and contributing to their families and neighborhoods.
