Monica Diaz-Veliz is participating for YWCA

As a women, former VPK Teacher, community member of Miami Dade County. I know the struggles of many women in our community. Some are single mothers with low income, elderly women that cannot even afford housing, food, and medication. I have been always a big advocate of children because I know that giving they a bright safe, emotional, caring beginning will lead us to have a future great community. But is not just the job of a family who is struggling is a job of all of us in unifying work. Each member of this community must give a grain of sand if we want a better future.

For more than 105 years, YWCA South Florida has stood at the forefront of South Florida's most pressing social justice movements. Through programs and partnerships, they bridge the gap between local communities and the economic, educational and health resources they need to thrive on their own terms.

Through the community's support, YWCA offers vital programs and services in economic empowerment, personal and family wellness, early education, and youth development that aim to eliminate the barriers disproportionately affecting women and people of color.
