In my 36 years as a National Park Ranger, anytime we had an injured animal, the cry was “call Lloyd!” Wildlife Rescue of Dade County is an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release back to the wild injured, orphaned and/or displaced native wild animals. They were always there at Biscayne National Park providing educational opportunities at Family Fun Fest and other park events, but their expertise is sought after internationally wherever wildlife needs a helping hand. Last year, Give Miami Day donors helped WRDC purchase a digital Xray machine, helping them diagnose broken bones and find deeply embedded fish hooks. Working with local high school kids, they built a new bald eagle nesting platform. In 2026, they will be relocating to a new location in the Redland that is much more suitable to the work they do for wildlife. Please join me this Give Miami Day to help the animals of Wildlife Rescue of Dade County.
