Since January 2026, Healthy Eating, now Eating for Health has brought free, hands-on “food is medicine” workshops to South Florida communities. In 2027, we’ll host 12 monthly workshops, each with its own culturally rooted theme celebrating the foods and herbs of the many cultures that call South Florida home. This is not a cooking class. Participants learn to grow their own herbs, identify real produce, and take home a starter plant. They taste fresh, healthy, organic foods from local growers and makers, and meet the farmers and food entrepreneurs in their own neighborhoods. Every participant leaves with a local resource guide to culturally relevant hand made unique find all across South Florida for healthier, more variety and options for healthy food businesses near them. Real food, grown close to home.

In 2027, Eating for Health will host 12 free monthly workshops for 180 South Florida residents (about 15 per workshop). Our goals are:

  • Host 12 workshops, one per month, each with a unique cultural food and herb theme.
  • Give 180 participants a herb starter kit and a local healthy food resource guide.
  • Feature at least 12 local growers, farmers, or healthy food entrepreneurs over the year.
  • At least 80% of participants can name 2 or more local places to buy fresh, healthy food, measured by surveys at the start and end of each workshop.
  • At least 60% report growing herbs at home or visiting a local entrepreneur or market within 3 months, measured by a follow-up survey.
