A Legacy of Love, Service, and Hope

Our Story

The Escarment Foundation for the Needy was born from the heart and legacy of the late Maudira (“Modira”) Escarment, a man whose life’s mission was simple yet profound  to feed the hungry, educate the poor, and uplift those forgotten by society.

What began as one man’s act of kindness in the streets of St. Louis Du Nord and beyond sharing food, books, and hope with children who had none has now grown into a movement touching lives across Haiti and South Florida.

Today, under the leadership of his daughter, Dinah J. Escarment, the Foundation carries forward his dream of a world where no child goes to bed hungry and no student is denied an education because of poverty. Dinah continues her father’s vision with the same compassion, expanding the mission to include homeless outreach, youth empowerment, scholarships, health clinics, and disaster relief both locally and abroad.
