Our 1st priority is designing a safe route so our kids can bike and walk to school.

Dear Friends, Family, and Neighbors,

Please join me in supporting Friends of the Commodore Trail's "Safe Route to Schools" initiative.

Ozzie and I use the Trail almost every day to go to school and everything else in Center Grove. But we dodge stops, starts, stops again, potholes, tree roots, narrow or non-existent sidewalks, lack of safe crosswalks, and shared-use paths. Despite this, it is still a great place to ride with dedicated bike space.

It is so very, very close to being great!  It needs volunteer elbow-grease and a little seed money to make a massive difference.  I joined the board of FCT to put in the work, but need help with the fundraising.

Thanks to Friends of the Commodore Trail's advocacy, exciting progress is happening toward implementing plans for major Trail improvements over the next 5 years.

The first wave of Trail upgrades will focus on creating a safe route to schools.

These improvements will allow us to feel confident in encouraging our children to use the Trail to ride and walk to and from schools along Main Highway. Picture our kids gaining that little bit of confidence and independence. (And us not having to sit in long car drop-off lines!) Both priceless.

If you live in the Grove or use the Trail, let's support the Friends' efforts!!
