Mel's Friends of the Commodore Trail page

Hi, Friends, 
Thanks for reaching my very-first-ever fundraising page. You probably already know that I'm all in to build up the Friends of the Commodore Trail--which I hope will benefit generations of Miamians and their guests. But my goal is really pretty selfish: I'm trying to build the community I want to live in, and share it with you--A community that lives, works and plays together and welcomes others.  Join me.

Since you already know me, you can guess that I've already got a plan on how to get this done.  That's just me.  You also know that it will happen because I'm working with talented friends and volunteers that work together.  We're committed.

The Commodore Trail strategy will take a few years to implement.  2030 is the target.  But its first big step will be making the stretch that connects ten Grove schools safe for kids. Simple. If the kids are safe, parents relax, traffic eases and everyone becomes friends. Kumbaya.

19 other segments will follow to rebuild the full five-mile corridor...trees, parks, walks, bayfront, happy neighbors from throughout the County and visitors from around the world. Everyone wins with grace and creative compromise.  Two things we could use everywhere in this world.

Everyone in my neighborhood has a different opinion.  That's why I love it here.  It's endlessly fascinating, changing and timeless. Bringing all these ideas together, creating community and steadily advocating for a better Miami is what the money is for.  I'm proud to have my taxes spread around to help others through the City, County and US. But I also help fund the Commodore Trail to concentrate my resources on the things I can control.

Please join me.  I'll personally match your donation, dollar for dollar.  Let's see if you can break me.   ;-)     And then, let's get together for coffee along the Trail and see the good that we're doing together. Thanks.
