The W.I.S.H. (Women Involved in Service to Humanity) Foundation, Incorporated was incorporated on June 2, 1988. The membership of the Foundation, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is comprised of all active members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter. The Foundation is the Chapter's vehicle to provide a variety of educational and social services to residents in the Miami-Dade County community.
Educating and engaging our young people is one of our greatest purposes.
Each year through events like the Annual MLK Youth Symposium we are able to provide experiences for our youth which aid them in looking at the world as the true change agents they are.
Using the principles of Dr. King as a guide, youth approach topics such as economic empowerment, social justice, health, mental health, culture, and environment, to address a few. They are able to meet with field experts, create projects, develop and implement plans for change, and overall recognize there is a support system as they grow and develop as future leaders over the years.
Your support of the W.I.S.H Foundation and its efforts within the community ensure our ability to continue great initiatives such as the Annual MLK Youth Symposium.
The youth truly ARE our future. We shouldn't arbitrarily hand over a world to them unprepared for its complexities. Nor should we ignore their thoughts, opinions and efforts as citizens of this world. Rather let's work together, continuously building each other up as the days pass. The MLK Symposium does this.
Thank you in advance for your support of the W.I.S.H Foundation.
