Alfredo Fundraising for The WOW Center

My connection to The WOW Center started through my wife. She worked there throughout her college years, and through her, I was introduced to a community that would reshape how I see love, resilience, and joy.

That connection deepened because of my brother-in-law, Gabriel — the guy smiling beside me in the picture. Gabriel was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, and watching how my wife and her family lived life alongside him opened my eyes to the beauty and strength of the special needs community. When I saw that same spirit reflected in the people and families at The WOW Center, getting involved felt like the most natural thing in the world.

One moment that still makes me smile happened the day that photo was taken. Gabriel had just performed in the WOW Experience Fashion Show. His grin after the show — and the way he kept asking if he did a good job — captured everything that makes this place special. The WOW Center gives people like Gabriel a stage to shine, a space to belong, and a chance to feel proud of who they are.

As a board member, I’ve seen how WOW transforms lives every day. It’s more than programs or services — it’s confidence, independence, and community. That’s why I’m fundraising for The WOW Center this Give Miami Day.
