AfriKin Art Fair: Through Creation, We Find Meaning SCENES From HOME.
Curated by Professor Dr. Joseph L. Underwood
Art is not neutral—it’s necessary. At AfriKin, we harness art as advocacy and culture as catalyst to heal, remember, and build. During Miami Art Week/Art Basel Miami Beach, our AfriKin Art Fair convenes artists and audiences from Global Africa and the Black world to transform testimony into action, remedy into community care, and reclamation into lasting legacy. Your Give Miami Day gift fuels that work for 2025 and beyond.
Mission
AfriKin Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to using arts and cultural experiences to build bridges between personal creativity and the collective good of humanity.
We sustain cultural programming designed to highlight the role of art and culture in human development and enrichment, emphasizing cultural connection and kinship across ethnic lines.
AfriKin nurtures artists, educates communities, and promotes sustainable cultural industries that inspire global connection.
The word AfriKin fuses “Africa” and “kinship,” reflecting our belief that we are all connected through culture and creativity.
Vision
For over a decade, AfriKin has produced programs and exhibitions that promote education, cultural preservation, and social awareness.
Through our three pillars — academic articulation, creative artistry, and cultural industries — we engage communities locally and globally to foster unity, empathy, and progress.
When you support AfriKin, you are opening creative pathways for learning, understanding, and economic development — empowering artists, educating youth, and cultivating thriving creative economies across the African Diaspora.
Why your gift matters now
Scale + Substance: AfriKin is Miami Art Week’s values-driven cultural anchor—where creativity meets conscience and community. Your support strengthens programming that centers Black memory, wellness, and intergenerational learning.
From inspiration to infrastructure: Contributions underwrite exhibitions, artist honoraria, ethical curation, youth arts education, mental wellness initiatives, and community-rooted activations across Miami-Dade.
Philanthropy with presence: Leadership gifts help welcome global cultural leaders and expand free/low-cost public access—ensuring this work belongs to the people it serves.
