Haitian People’s Budget: Open-Source CivicTech

Started by our 2021 Summer cohort of high school interns, the Haitian Participatory People’s Budget is an open-source GitHub project empowering Haitians to engage in public budgeting decisions. Designed for transparency and accessibility, it simplifies budget information and fosters community input, enabling citizens to prioritize needs and see the impact of public funds. This tool not only increases transparency but also serves as an educational resource on public finance, promoting civic engagement. By inviting Haitians worldwide to participate in shaping their community’s future, the project fosters accountability and inclusivity in governance, bridging the gap between citizens and decision-making processes.
