Make a difference!

I am Gigi the proud director of Children's Resources (CRF). CRF has been helping children with special needs thrive for over 30 years. For the last 15 years I have been a part of this organization and for the last 9 years I have had the privilege of being its leader. 

Yes, CRF is my place of employment but CRF is not just my job. CRF has become so much more to me. It is a place I believe in whole heartedly.  Through the years I have seen how all the love, dedication and hard work myself and my staff have put into CRF has made a difference. I have seen student grow, progress and thrive at our school. There is nothing more heartwarming then seeing a student that could not speak, say their first word. Or that student with a walker, take their own steps

Not to mention when students read their first words, add numbers or engages in play with a friend. All these little things that seem small for a neurotypical student is a grand accomplishment for our neurodivergent kiddos and of course their families.

Unfortunately, as  many may know, raising a student with special needs is quite expensive. Between, school, therapies, doctors to just name a few, parents can not do it on their own. It takes about 2.4 million dollars to raise a child with special needs. Who can do that on their own? That is why CRF exists and that is another reason why I stand by our organization and work hard to make it a successful one. Children's Resources Fund allows for our students and their families to get scholarships to be able to attend our school at a lower cost and in many cases at no extra cost. Because CRF is not here to make a dollar, CRF is here to spend every extra dollar in what we believe in "helping to provide programs and services that enhance the learning potential and life skills of all children, in a nurturing, loving environment and to offer support to their families" and we do this independent of a family being able to pay or not. 

So I am not just the leader of CRF and my students and staff are not just that. We are CRF, we are a community working together embracing differences and helping the world see the beauty of being unique.
