WHEEL Scholarship

The Way Forward is committed to empowering students who have been paralyzed by providing them with the resources they need to achieve their educational goals. Students living with paralysis face a unique set of challenges beyond the classroom. From medical expenses to the need for specialized accommodations, the financial burden can be overwhelming. Many of these students possess the talent, determination, and academic potential to excel but lack the financial resources to pursue their dreams – you can help be the change in this storyline. 

To bridge this gap, TeamTWF established the WHEEL Scholarship, which provides scholarships to students who are paralyzed, our goal is to provide better access to higher education and help cultivate a brighter future. The scholarship not only offers financial support but also serves as a beacon of hope, reminding these students what is possible. Our scholarships are available for individuals pursuing further education in a university, college, or trade school.

Since we started this program two years ago we have given out three our scholarships. We are looking to raise the bar for the school year 2025-2026 and give away three in one year - you can be a part of that goal. 

The Way Forward's mission is to enhance the quality of life for those living with paralysis. We believe all people with paralysis can live an active and independent life. 

As you know, this organization, dedicated to enhancing the lives of those affected by spinal cord injuries and paralysis. Since 2011, The Way Forward formally the Woody Foundation has expanded its impact, introducing initiatives like the Wheel Scholarship program for higher education, sponsorship of para-athletes in partnership with the Lifetime Miami Marathon, and the ongoing distribution of free Adaptive Packs across the United States, among many other initiatives.
