FOR THE "PAWS".

$500 goal

One of my earliest memories is sitting with my mom as she knitted "footsies" for my soon-to-be baby brother, Earl.   It was December of 1972.  We lived in LA and it was cold.  We were a poor immigrant family, having just arrived from Cuba 11 months earlier.  I remember hearing a dog crying outside our apartment. I asked my mom, "Why is the doggie crying, Mami?"  She said to me, "Por que tiene frio." (Because the doggie is cold.")  I then said, in the Spanish of a 2 year old, "Hacele un abiguito, Mami, si, hacele in abiguito." ("Make him a little coat, Mami, yes, make him a little coat.")  It's been a love affair with 4-legged creatures since that moment.  I will never erase that memory from my mind, nor do I want to.  It is a life-long dream for me to have a bunch of acres on a farmstead somewhere and just bring animals there to run and live freely the rest of their lives.  This is expensive.  So, for now, I support Women For Paws.  Why?  Because unlike other rescues, Women 4 Paws goes a step beyond to help humans keep their animals, when all else fails.  We step in and take care of medical bills and adoption costs so those who wish to have a four-legged companion (dogs or cats), but can't afford to, are able to.  Animal companionship is proven to extend the quality of life.  God gave these to us to have dominion over them, and yes, to take care of them, to help us in our daily lives.  All my of pets are rescues, they will always be.  And I love them all.  Would you please help me reach my goal on for Women For Paws on this Give Miami Day?  Thank you. @womenforpaws
