ABOUT FAMA
Fiber Artists-Miami Association FAMA is an artist collective that has morphed into a movement transforming Miami through the power of textiles. Born in July 2020, in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic, FAMA grew from a handful of passionate makers into a thriving network of 350 members. Initiated by three artists,
Aurora Molina, the late Evelyn Politzer, and Alina Rodriguez Rojo, whose shared passion for textiles and community-building laid the foundation for this vibrant collective. This year we mourn the passing of our beloved Evelyn Politzer and honor her legacy with new and expanding programs.

Three years ago, we started a movement called Threading the City to advance our mission of educating, innovating, and elevating the textile arts. As part of this initiative, we want to expand our free workshops, artist talks, studio visits, community events, and exhibition schedule.

The raised funds will support new initiatives, including:

1. FIBER ART WORKSHOPS FOR HEALING
Our program provides opportunities for adults and youth of all abilities to explore the world of textile art, whether they are beginners or seasoned enthusiasts. These workshops are open to the community for free or at a low cost with all materials provided (senior register (free) through Golden Ticket). Workshops will take place at Play Studio Artelier in Coral Gables and in locations around the city for better access. Workshop listings are found on our website. Workshops like Stitching and Wellbeing address the need for the declining mental health in 2025 according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
