$75,000 Goal

For 35 years, Shake-A-Leg Miami has opened the waters of Biscayne Bay to people with disabilities and those facing disadvantages, creating a place where everyone can belong, grow, and dream.  What began in 1990 as a small adaptive sailing program has become a community where independence, confidence, and friendship take shape every single day. Through sailing and watersports, our participants discover their strength, their voice, and their place on the water.  People with disabilities want what everyone wants: joy, connection, and the chance to show who they really are. Here, they can. And for 35 years, we’ve been proving what’s possible when a community decides to make room for every talent, every story, and every dream.

Shake-A-Leg Miami:

  • Serves 8,000+ participants annually, including 3,000 youth and people with disabilities.
  • Hosts 30,000+ annual visits to the Shake‑A‑Leg campus.
  • Leverages 15,000+ volunteer hours each year from adult and teen mentors.
  • Provides $740,000+ annually in scholarships for individuals facing disability or economic barriers.
  • Maintains 30+ adaptive sailboats, kayaks, and watercraft designed for universal access.
