UHI CommunityCare Clinic

Since 2008, UHI has been changing lives through free healthcare in South Florida. We had 8,500 patient visits in 2019. While UHI Clinic can not solve the problem of health disparities, our vision is to be one of the leaders in providing quality community healthcare in Miami-Dade County. That can be done by keeping the patient front and center in our service model.

"Under One Roof - Connecting the Disconnected to Healthy Living" is the theme of our upcoming fiscal cycle. Our efforts will be focused in the following areas to better serve our patients:

1. Expand primary medical practice, ensuring surrounding demographics are being engaged and represented in the clinic patient population.
2. Develop program evaluation methodology using best practices. This fiscal year the clinic would like to focus on measuring better health outcomes of our patients.
3. Develop an in-house chronic disease management program for patients to learn how to effectively manage diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.
4. Expand free optometry services to include glaucoma and other eye diseases screening.
5. Continue to be a trusted source of community health education programs available online open to the community at large.
6. Work in partnership with academic institutions to provide needed research on under-served communities.
7. Serve as a teaching facility for upcoming medical providers through unique community care opportunities.
8. Provide mentorship to minority populations seeking careers in healthcare.
9. Strengthen our donor base to better connect them with our mission by engaging them through better story-telling.

The clinic's mission has always been to provide free healthcare services to the underserved population of South Florida regardless of their ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation or religious and political affiliation. The clinic believes it has created a flexible model to adapt to ever-changing events.
