About Positive People Network Inc.
“There is Life After Diagnosis—LIVE IT!”
Positive People Network Inc. (PPN) is not just an organization—it’s my life’s work, my calling, and my testimony. My name is Alecia Tramel-McIntyre, and I’ve been living and thriving with HIV for over 30 years. Out of my own journey through stigma, survival, homelessness, and resilience, I created PPN to remind people that a diagnosis does not define you.
PPN is a BIPOC-led, peer-driven nonprofit rooted right here in Miami, Florida—the epicenter of new HIV diagnoses in the nation. We are led by people who look like the communities most impacted. We are people who know what it means to sit in a doctor’s office and hear those words. We are people who know the weight of stigma, the fear of rejection, and the power of finding a safe place to be seen and loved.
Since our founding in 2019, PPN has grown from a vision into a lifeline for hundreds of people across Miami-Dade County and beyond. We bring together women, men, youth, families, trans and non-binary siblings, seniors, and people reentering society after incarceration. Our goal is simple but powerful: to create spaces where people can heal, learn, grow, and thrive.
What We Do
For Women: We lift up Black women who carry the highest burden of HIV in the South through Stop the Silence Ambassadors, PPN SWAT Women’s Empowerment, and My Sister’s Keeper. These programs give women a sisterhood, a platform, and a voice.
For Trans & Non-Binary Communities: Our TransSis program builds sisterhood, breaks barriers, and creates equity in healthcare, leadership, and opportunities.
For Men: Through PPN Men, we walk with BIPOC men living with HIV and those impacted by incarceration, offering support groups, reentry help, and educational opportunities to heal and rebuild.
For Youth: Programs like Positive Youth Rising and Youth Enrichment Workshops give young people in foster care, schools, and juvenile justice systems the tools to value their bodies, their voices, and their future.
For Families & Communities:Our innovative, non-traditional approach to education and awareness around reproductive health justice for youth and seniors is impactful. Our Faith and HIV Initiative partners with churches to replace stigma with love. Our HIV Navigator system uses lived experience and community to connect people to services and care through our networks and partnerships with local organizations.
Globally: We’ve begun partnerships in Jamaica and Rwanda, because our fight is not just local—it’s worldwide.
Every program we run comes from the heart of those who’ve lived it. That’s the power of being BIPOC-led and peer-driven.
Why This Matters
Miami is #1 in new HIV diagnoses. That’s not just a statistic—that’s my neighbors, that’s my family, that’s me. Too many people are still being diagnosed late. Too many are living in silence. Too many are dying of stigma, not the virus.
That’s why PPN shows up—on the streets, in churches, in beauty salons, in schools, and in prisons. We meet people where they are, without judgment, with open arms. We know that sometimes what saves a life isn’t just a pill—it’s a safe space, a meal, a hug, a word of encouragement, a sister or brother saying, “You’re not alone.”
Our Vision
I believe in a world where Black and Brown people living with HIV are valued, visible, and thriving. Where seniors ask their doctors for an HIV test without shame. Where young people grow up knowing prevention, self-worth, and their voices matter. Where trans and cis sisters build bridges, not walls. Where faith communities embrace us instead of turning us away.
Why Give Miami Day Matters
Give Miami Day is more than fundraising—it’s about community. When you give to PPN, you’re not giving to an organization, you’re investing in a movement led by people with lived experience.
Your support helps us put food on tables, provide testing and prevention, train the next generation of leaders, and create spaces of healing and empowerment. It helps us look someone in the eye and say with confidence:
“There is life after diagnosis—LIVE IT!”
From my heart to yours—thank you for believing in us, for standing with us, and for helping us continue to build a network of love, resilience, and hope. Together, we can change the story of HIV in Miami and beyond.
With gratitude and faith,
Alecia Tramel-McIntyre Founder & CEO,
