Phoebe's Fortress Inc.

Phoebe in the Bible is known as a leader, a woman of status. She is financially independent, serves her community, and is radiant. A fortress is a place un-susceptible to outside influence or disturbance --- a safe haven for those who inhabit it.  This is what Phoebe’s Fortress seeks to obtain for the community it serves.  

In 2021 Phoebe’s Fortress was born when Dr. Mary saw the need through her sisters’ service of foster parenting.  Her second sister fostered several boys and then later adopted two at the ages of 2 and 5.   Several years later, her third sister and Executive Director of the On HER Own program fostered several foster teens.   During their tenure at her sister’s home Dr. Mary saw that various skills were missing in these young teens that were not missing in her children.  She concluded that it was life skills, for example etiquette, budgeting, education awareness, and overall common sense.  Once Dr. Mary figured this out, she called her sister and pitched the idea.  Her sister agreed and said let’s do it.  The program On HER Own Foster Care Enrichment Program was born.  Later on, Phoebe’s Fortress Inc. was created.
