The Miami Youth Orchestra & Choir Artistic Director Maria Salas is a product from the acclaimed "El Sistema" organization in Venezuela, from which she drew inspiration to build a musical haven in the United States. She has been committed in sharing the creative fusion of a lifetime of knowledge to nurture the youth by creating a one-of-a-kind musical experience through a variety of ways:
1.Coaching young artists in the performance of instruments (violin, cello,clarinet, trumpet, trombone, percussion) and voice.
2.Exploring world music by performing music from other countries: Russia, Japan, China, Spain, Africa, Venezuela, Caribbean, United States.
3.Performing classical and popular music (Broadway & Disney songs, Vivaldi, Rock & Roll).
4.Providing a safe and nurturing environment for students to grow and bond with each other as a youth orchestra.
The Miami Youth Orchestra is committed to bringing music alive in a way that allows youth of diverse cultural backgrounds and economic status to come together and develop confidence, artistry and pivotal experiences through the discipline and craft of music making.
