Miami Design Preservation League

A nonprofit organization

MDPL was a catalyst for Miami Beach's economic revival that began in the 1980s and continues to this day. For more than 40 years, MDPL has acted as a steward to Miami Beach's architectural and historic heritage. MDPL has accomplished this through continued education of the community via our programming, walkings tours, Art Deco Weekend, and Art Deco Museum exhibitions. Due in part to MDPL's preservation and promotional efforts, modern day South Beach is a unique destination for tourists and a thriving neighborhood for residents.

In addition to MDPL's commitment to the Art Deco Historic District, the organization is active in historic preservation issues throughout Miami Beach as well as surrounding areas. MDPL provides cultural and educational programs to residents of Dade County, surrounding counties, citizens of Florida and to national and international visitors. Our programs are developed for the general public and have special appeal to those interested in art, design, architecture, history, preservation, urban and community planning and development.

MDPL's mission is carried out in the following three ways: 1) Through the development and production of free educational and cultural programming that stimulates awareness and appreciation of Miami Beach's historical architectural significance; 2) By providing a pathway for active citizen participation in historic preservation; and community involvement; 3) By advocating for legislation and government policies that ensure the continued preservation of historic architecture.

Miami Design Preservation League is a not-for-profit preservation and arts organization which preserves, protects, and promotes the architectural, cultural, social, and environmental integrity of Miami Beach and the surrounding areas.
